Regional Coordinators

The Regional Coordinators deserve recognition for their tremendous role as leaders who coordinated field-surveys, recruited volunteers, and kept up with seemingly endless data review. These volunteers were the backbone of the atlas project and integral to the management and success of data collection over five field seasons. They often went above and beyond in their duties, conducting prodigious amounts of point counts and general atlassing not only in their regions, but often lending a substantial helping hand in other areas with few volunteers. Atlas staff took on coordination of regions 15 and 16 due to close collaboration with Environment and Climate Change Canada as well as partners in industry.

This project was possible only with the enthusiasm and skills of the over 330 citizen scientists who dedicated their time, effort, and personal resources to survey thousands of squares for the atlas project. All individuals who contributed breeding bird records are listed, unless they requested otherwise. Please visit this page for a few of the statistics concerning each atlasser’s activity. The atlas team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone whose name appears in the table, irrespective of the amount of data collected. We also greatly appreciate those participants who did not collect data but who assisted with remote expeditions, transportation, logistics, note taking and other activities that facilitated completing surveys.

Bioacoustic Data Collection

The following participants, atlas staff, and partner organizations assisted greatly in the collection of bioacoustic data, from making early morning recordings with handheld Zoom recorders to deploying and retrieving autonomous recording units throughout Saskatchewan in all seasons and conditions. We thank everyone involved for their diligence and efforts.

Logistical Support

In addition to those who collected data, many people helped the project in numerous direct and indirect ways. This includes assisting with promotional activities, events and training workshops; transporting people and materials; lending canoes, and other equipment; donating use of cabins and camping sites; serving as paddlers and guides on remote expeditions; and acting as safety monitors, traveling companions, and scribes. It would be impossible to track down and thank everyone who contributed in this way, so we extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who provided unsung assistance.
